Starting Our Outdoor Shower Build | Part 1 - Pouring Concrete & Milling Lumber
Thank you Aura for sponsoring this video! Check out www.aura.com/woodbrew for a FREE 2-week trial to protect all your info!
What homestead backyard Intex pool area is complete without an outdoor shower?! We decided to build a timber framed outdoor shower for those days when you want to cool off, rinse off any dirt from a hard work day, and even wash the dogs. I have to say, this little area is getting such a big transformation and this addition will be so nice! In this video, we are pouring the outdoor shower concrete base and milling our own lumber for the shower walls!

Over the past few weeks, we've been hard at work turning our outdoor space into our own personal oasis. From scooping gravel to building a new fence, each step has been a labor of love. Now, we're tackling the next phase: pouring our own concrete! In this video, you'll see us learning the ropes as we form and pour concrete for the curbing, ensuring a custom fit that enhances both the aesthetic ...

We are finally building a fence for our backyard on our 5-acre property! Paying to have a new fence built is expensive! So we built one ourselves. This has been on the to-do list for a while now and what better time to do it with a baby on the way and in the southern Alabama summer heat. We saved so much money milling our own lumber for this project and couldn't be happier with the results. Mor...

We are turning a section of our back patio into a dream backyard oasis with a cheap above-ground pool! This week we are building a fence to surround the pool, mainly to cover the horrendous blue, but it also makes a great safety net for dogs and kids. This small area is already looking so good, but wee have a lot more to do to fully transform this space! 🔨 If you are into saving money and the p...

Our back patio area is getting a makeover, again! We are installing a small Intex above-ground pool and are planning to turn it into our budget summer oasis, which is on Molly's top prenatal care wishlist. In this video, we demo the old layout, prep the ground for the pool base and start setting up our new Intex Pool. Soon we will have an entire wood surround, concrete pavers, and an outdoor sh...

Ya know, I absolutely adore both of you. I just have a little bit of a beef --- TINY bit - with Dylan, because I think he needs to be a little more...ummm....he seems a little too.....macho? Like, when your girl says things you shouldn't get offended. You sometimes sound a little more offended than I think you should. (and, just by the way, I beg you....BEG YOU....to stop "surprising" your girl with project goals. Really. I thin Dylan is an amazing amazing man with the attributes that anyone would want. But surpises of project things just screams the old days of getting a vacuum cleaner for Christmas. Sorry dude. I think you're awesome in EVERY other way. Truly a masterful young man. Just trying to give you some pro tips here. (Edit to add: yes, I'm an old lady.)

Nice build! Good on you for going after it. You'll love having it. For the bed rails: add another set of supports on the outside of each bed position on ONE of the vertical rails - making the opening wider. That way, when you start lifting the bed, one person can set the bed on the extra supports (like a shelf) while the second person wrestles to find the opening. Watching at 24:10, she could have set her end on the extra supports while you wrestled your end up and slid it in. Makes that operation MUCH easier.

My family and I have loved watching your outdoor patio space come together. The outdoor shower looks great, as for the aggressiveness of the finish: free pedicures! The roughness can be used to help wear down calluses. Looks amazing and can’t wait to see what’s next!

I enjoy watching your videos. You're definitely someone after my own heart. I'm a woman in my sixties and I still like learning new skills and fixing my own stuff. My grandfather was a blacksmith/welder and taught all of us how to fix things instead of throwing things out and getting new. I've saved a ton of money over the years and gotten a lot of self satisfaction. Good on you for all that you've done. It looks great!

I used to work for a firm that had treetrunks delivered, we then had a giant saw, man riding on it, that cut the trunks into planks, they were then air dried, then put into an old lorry container that was heated which brought the wood down to interior wood use. Because we also did flooring, the planks were then dried further to 8-10% moisture content. Containers are great for drying wood.
